Westbrook Estates is a prestigious community in south Edmonton, named for the Whitemud Creek Ravine, which entirely encloses the western half of the community. Westbrook Estates is almost entirely surrounded by green space, whether the ravine or the golf course at the heart of the community which the roadways and development wrap around. The boundaries of Westbrook Estates are found at the Whitemud Creek Ravine to the north-west and south-west, the adjacent community of Aspen Gardens to the north around 39 Avenue, and 111 Street to the east.

Westbrook Estates was annexed into Edmonton in 1960, beginning development soon after, with construction continuing slowly into the 2000s. Westbrook Estates homes for sale will mainly be single-family detached homes, typically large, prestigious homes taking advantage of the green space with large lots. This housing type makes up nearly 60% of the real estate in Westbrook Estates. The remaining is comprised of low-rise apartment and condo buildings, with some duplexes. This higher-density use is entirely contained in the area next to 111 Street, while the single-family homes dominate the rest of the land. The population of Westbrook Estates is 1,081, and the majority of residents are homeowners, with a high proportion of longer-term residents.

Westbrook Estates' location allows easy access to south Edmonton, downtown, and the University of Alberta, as well as to Southgate Centre and South Edmonton Common. The nearby Anthony Henday Drive also offers a quick commute around the outskirts of the city, including many commercial and industrial employment areas including those in Sherwood Park, St. Albert, and west and east Edmonton. Whitemud Drive brings commuters right across the southern part of Edmonton. The nearby Calgary Trail also connects Westbrook Estates residents to Nisku and the Edmonton International Airport.

Many commercial amenities, besides the local conveniences found at 111 Street, can be found at Century Park, which offers a Safeway, Sobeys, Shoppers Drug Mart, restaurants, clinics, and boutique stores and services. For anything else, there's Southgate Centre, the Calgary Trail/Gateway Boulevard corridor, or South Edmonton Common. In any of these locations, it will be easy to shop for groceries, necessities, clothing, and whatever you need, as well as to find banks, food, coffee, bars, and more.

Westbrook Estates has an abundance of greenery, being almost entirely enclosed within the bends of the Whitemud Creek Ravine, and The Derrick Golf and Winter Club also adds to this. Most homes within the community back onto one or the other of these features. Residents maintain beautiful yards to round out the natural feel here, and several small pocket parks around the community offer space to spread out. A larger park is located at the north-east corner of Westbrook Estates, within the adjacent community of Aspen Gardens, offering a playground, skating rink, sports fields, and the Aspen Gardens Community League.

Westbrook Estates has no schools, though Westbrook Elementary School and Vernon Barford School are located at the edge of the community, and Sweet Grass School, St. Theresa Catholic School, Greenfield Elementary School, St. Boniface Elementary School, Richard Secord Elementary School, and Harry Ainlay High School are all located nearby.
