Wedgewood Heights is a secluded community in west Edmonton, tucked between two branches of the Wedgewood Ravine and buffered from the Anthony Henday Drive by a wide corridor. There is only one road coming into the community, 184 Street, which also forms the eastern boundary of the community of Wedgewood Heights, until Wedgewood Crescent reaches further east into the crook of the ravines. The other boundaries are formed by Lessard Road to the north, the Anthony Henday Drive ring road to the west, and the Wedgewood Ravine across the south-east and wrapping north. The community was named for the surrounding Wedgewood Ravine, while many of the roads throughout the community are named for well-known Edmontonians such as Wells, Weber, and Weaver.  

Development in Wedgewood Heights progressed slowly, beginning slowly in the 1960s and continuing throughout the 80s and 90s. Even today, some infill and new homes continue to be built, taking advantage of the natural settings offered by the ravines. Wedgewood Heights homes for sale are entirely single-family detached homes, dominating all of the community’s real estate. The lots are large around Wedgewood Crescent, mostly acreage properties. The population of Wedgewood Heights is 1,431, and the majority are long-term residents and homeowners, with a typical household income well above the city-wide average.

Wedgewood Heights’ location allows easy access to many industrial employment areas throughout the west end, the West Edmonton Mall a little north, and many other parts of west and south Edmonton via the Anthony Henday Drive ring road. Many commercial amenities, besides those at West Edmonton Mall, can be found at The Marketplace at Callingwood, located north on 178 Street. Here, you’ll find a Safeway, Shoppers Drug Mart, farmer’s market, liquor, banks, food options, and much more. Further, at 184 Street and Lessard Road, opposite the north-east corner of Wedgewood Heights, a small plaza offers community-level conveniences, including a grocery store, cleaners, liquor, food, bank, and gas.  

Besides the primary feature of the abundant surrounding greenspace offered by the lengthy ravine frontage, the beautiful views and walking trails, a large central park area offers an extensive playground, sports fields, a fountain, gazebo, and picnic facilites. Further facilities available nearby, in Callingwood, include the Callingwood Twin Arenas, a branch of the Edmonton Public Library, a skate park, splash park, and YMCA.

Two churches, Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church and River West Christian Church, are found across the Anthony Henday Drive. A further grouping of churches is found around 184 Street and Callingwood Road. There are no schools within Wedgewood Heights, though residents are well-served by nearby schools: Good Shepherd Catholic School, S. Bruce Smith School, Michael A. Kostek School, and Bessie Nichols School.
