South East Edmonton is an area of Edmonton, comprised of areas such as Capilano, Mill Woods, The Meadows, Decoteau, and Summerside. The area is found roughly south of the North Saskatchewan River and east of Gateway Boulevard. Some communities in South East Edmonton, especially in the north-eastern parts, are as old as the 1950s or 60s, while many other communities developed through the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. A building boom in the 2000s saw many more communities added to the southern reaches of Edmonton, extending the South East Edmonton area greatly. Some of these communities are still continuing construction today. Housing through the area is mixed, with many single-family detached homes. Other real estate in South East Edmonton includes duplexes, townhouses and low-rise condo buildings, especially located around major roadways and parks.
