Skyrattler is a triangular community in south Edmonton, named for Skyrattler, Chief of the Winterburn band when Edmonton achieved city status in 1904. The community's boundaries are found at 111 Street to the east, 23 Avenue to the north, and the Blackmud Creek Ravine to the south-west. Skyrattler was developed through the 1970s and 80s, and the community is made up of more than 50% low-rise apartments and condos and 25% townhouses, with the remainder comprised of single-family detached homes with scattered duplexes. The population is 2,081, with Skyrattler residents split between renters and homeowners.

Skyrattler's location allows easy access to much of south and west Edmonton via the Anthony Henday Drive ring road and Calgary Trail, and downtown Edmonton is a short drive away along Gateway Boulevard. Good transit connections lead to the nearby Century Park LRT station. Many commercial amenities can be found nearby along the Calgary Trail/Gateway Boulevard corridor, including a Superstore, Save-On-Foods, T&T Supermarket, Homesense, Winners, Petland, Chapters, JYSK, Walmart, and numerous other stores, services, food options, banks, and more. There is a shopping area at Century Park nearby, with a Safeway, Sobeys, Shoppers Drug Mart, boutique stores, and services. The large Southgate Centre and South Edmonton Common are also located nearby. A central park area within Skyrattler offers a playground and sports fields, while Kinsmen Twin Arenas and the William Lutsky Family YMCA are located across 111 Street. The Baptist Taylor College and Seminary, as well as the Edmonton Academy, are located within the community. Keheewin School and St. Theresa Catholic School are both located in adjacent communities.
