Rural North East South Sturgeon is the current census and MLS classification for roughly half of the recently-approved Horse Hill area plan in far north-east Edmonton, which will eventually be broken into five smaller communities as it is developed. The general area plan's boundaries are found at Manning Drive to the north-west, the Anthony Henday Drive to the south-west, and at 33 Street NE and the North Saskatchewan River valley to the east. Rural North East South Sturgeon occupies the south-eastern half of this region. The Area Structure Plan (ASP) for Horse Hill was approved in 2013, and is expected to house over 70,000 people, with a significant commercial area near Manning Drive as well as extensive green spaces and natural areas.
Connections to the rest of the city and surrounding areas are provided by the Anthony Henday Drive ring road and Manning Drive. These routes provide easy access to Fort Saskatchewan, north and east Edmonton, extensive industrial areas, and CFB Edmonton at Namao. Currently, the Pirates Edmonton Rugby Football Club, Brenneis Vegetable Garden and Greenhouses, Kuhlmann's Greenhouse Garden Market, Sunstar Nurseries, the Quarry Ridge estate subdivision, The Quarry golf course, Raven Crest Golf & Country Club, and Our Lady Queen of Peace Ranch are located within Rural North East South Sturgeon, as well as the Horsehills Creek ravine.
