Rundle Heights is part of Beverly, in northeast Edmonton. It was named for Reverend Robert Rundle, the first Protestant missionary to take up residence in the Edmonton area. The community’s boundaries are found at 118 Avenue to the north, and the river valley to the east and south. To the west, Rundle Heights meets Beverly Heights at 36 Street south of 111 Avenue and 34 Street north to 118 Avenue. Development here took place through the 1960s and 70s. The real estate in Rundle Heights is one-third apartments, one-third townhouses, and one-third single-family detached homes. The population is 3,409, with the majority of Rundle Heights residents being renters.
Rundle Heights’ location allows easy access to other parts of the city via Yellowhead Trail, including many industrial employment areas, and downtown Edmonton is just a short drive away. Many commercial amenities can be found just west along 118 Avenue, and the Abbottsfield Mall is located immediately north of the community. There is a park and school site in the centre of Rundle Heights, offering St. Jerome School, the Beverly Daycare Society and Family Centre, and the brand-new Ivor Dent School. The real star of Rundle Heights, however, is the large Rundle Park at the bottom of the river valley. This park offers a par-3 golf course, disc golf, mini-golf, paddleboats, numerous sporting facilities including tennis, a recreation centre, rental facilities, and picnic facilities, making it the obvious destination for your family.
