Riverview is an area plan in far south-west Edmonton, comprised of five communities: Grandisle, River's Edge, Stillwater, The Uplands, and White Birch. The area’s boundaries are found at 33 Avenue SW to the south, the North Saskatchewan River valley to the south-east, the Anthony Henday Drive corridor to the north-east, the Wedgewood Creek Ravine to the north-west, and Winterburn Road (215 Street) to the west. Riverview's Area Structure Plan (ASP) was approved in 2013, with some development in The Uplands beginning soon after. Much of the area is yet to be developed, though the Neighbourhood Structure Plans (NSPs) are in place to guide the construction. Housing through the area will be mixed, though with a majority of single-family detached homes. Other real estate in Riverview will include duplexes, townhouses and low-rise condo buildings. The north-eastern part of Riverview, near the interchange of the Anthony Henday Drive and Maskekosihk Trail, will be a commercial employment area. The total population of Riverview is projected to be nearly 50,000.

Riverview's location allows easy access to commercial and employment opportunities throughout a large part of south and west Edmonton via the adjacent Anthony Henday Drive ring road, which opens up easy access to services around Edmonton. It's also a quick commute into Devon, Acheson, or to St. Albert. Riverview residents will be served by a large town centre commercial area around the intersection of 199 Street and Maskekosihk Trail, as well as several local shopping plazas scattered throughout the communities. There will also be an abundance of parks, natural areas, and green spaces spread throughout Riverview, as well as several small lakes and ponds. The surrounding Wedgewood Creek Ravine and North Saskatchewan River valley offer further recreational opportunities, along with a large district park. The area also offers a wide variety of planned schools.
