Rideau Park is a community in south Edmonton, named for Rideau Hall, the official Ottawa residence of the Governor-General of Canada. The community’s boundaries are found at Calgary Trail to the east, 111 Street to the west, 40 Avenue to the south, and Whitemud Drive to the north. Rideau Park was developed primarily in the 1970s, with a round of redevelopment occurring in the 90s. The community is a mix of low and medium density, with low-rise apartments and condos accounting for over 60% of Rideau Park real estate units. Single-family detached homes account for a further 25%, along with scattered duplexes, while the remainder are found in a retirement community. The population is 1,981, with Rideau Park residents mostly being renters.

Rideau Park's location allows easy access to much of south and west Edmonton via Whitemud Drive and Calgary Trail, and downtown Edmonton is just a short drive away along Gateway Boulevard. An LRT station across Whitemud Drive, at Southgate Centre, allows for easy public transit access. Many commercial amenities can be found nearby along the Calgary Trail/Gateway Boulevard corridor, including a Superstore and numerous food and coffee options as well as community-level conveniences. The large Southgate Centre is located immediately across Whitemud Drive, and Whitemud Crossing in the eastern part of the community offers a RONA, Staples, a branch of the Edmonton Public Library, and numerous conveniences. There is a large central park area within Rideau Park, offering playgrounds, sports fields, and the community's two schools: Rideau Park School and DS Mackenzie Junior High School. St. Augustine Catholic Elementary School is also located immediately to the south on 106 Street, and the Harry Ainlay High School is found across 111 Street.
