Rapperswill is a relatively new community in northwest Edmonton, having been formed in 2010. Newcastle is an alternate name, used by the developer. The neighbourhood is bounded by the Anthony Henday Drive to the north, 127 Street to the west, 167 Avenue to the south, and the adjacent community of Canossa to the east between 119 and 120 Streets. The neighbourhood contains some commercial use at the south west corner, as well as a few duplexes. The majority of the community, however, is made up of single-family residential. The population of Rapperswill as of the 2016 census was 2,027, with around 70% owning their homes.

The location of Rapperswill is perfect for access to the Anthony Henday Drive at 127 Street, offering an easy commute to St Albert, CFB Edmonton at Namao, and other parts of the city. Rapperswill is developed around two lakes, as well as numerous other green spaces and a tree stand. The shopping centre at the south west corner offers a Sobeys, LA Fitness, banks, restaurants, clinics, and other stores and services, while there are also a Walmart and further conveniences located across 127 Street. Dunluce School and St. Lucy Catholic School are located in Dunluce, immediately south of Rapperswill. The Mormon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is located adjacent to the boundary of Rapperswill, in the community of Canossa.
