Ramsay Heights is a small community in south-west Edmonton. The community is named in honour of Walter Ramsay, who came to Edmonton in 1899. Ramsay started as a principal before becoming Edmonton's first commercial florist. A permanent greenhouse was erected as a tribute to Ramsay in the nearby Fort Edmonton Park. The community's boundaries are found at Whitemud Drive to the north-east, Terwillegar Drive to the south-east, 51 Avenue to the north, the North Saskatchewan River valley to the west, and along the neighbouring community of Rhatigan Ridge to the south near 40 Avenue. Riverbend Road bisects Ramsay Heights north and south offering residents easy access to city bus services and the Whitemud Freeway. Development in Ramsay Heights occurred during the 1970s. Housing is made up of over 50% single-family detached homes and 35% low-rise apartments, with the remaining dwellings being multi-family housing structures including row-housing and a few scattered duplexes. A number of large acreage lots still remain on the community's west end that are part of the original Glamorgan subdivision plan. The population is 3,389, with Ramsay Heights residents split between homeowners and renters.

Ramsay Heights' location allows easy access to commercial and employment opportunities throughout a large part of Edmonton via the Whitemud Freeway and Terwillegar Drive. Ramsay Heights residents are served by local businesses in the Terwillegar Park Shopping Centre, which includes a gym, a barber, a music school, eateries, and more. Many further amenities can be found in either direction via Whitemud Drive or south on Terwillegar Drive. The original design of the Riverbend-Terwillegar Heights area, including Ramsay Heights, was intended to be, in many respects, self-contained. Along with a few "pocket parks" Ramsay Heights was designed with a number of strategically placed pathways in order to promote pedestrian and bicycle travel within the community. The centrally located Ramsay Park does not contain any schools, but offers a playground, baseball diamonds and other sports fields. The high elevation of the park provides a unique panoramic view of Edmonton. Easy access to the river valley park trails and Fort Edmonton Park, just to the north, give Ramsay Heights a unique feel and a lot of opportunities to be outside. Riverbend United Church is located in the community, while St. Mary Catholic School and Earl Buxton School are located nearby.
