Prince Rupert is a small triangular community in central Edmonton. The community’s boundaries are found at 121 Street to the west, Kingsway to the north-east, and 111 Avenue to the south. Prince Rupert began development in the 1940s, and is made up of a mix of single-family detached homes, duplexes, and low-rise apartments. More than half of the real estate is single-family. The population of Prince Rupert is 1,292, with residents primarily being renters.
Prince Rupert’s location allows easy access to many industrial employment areas throughout the west end, to St Albert and the University of Alberta via Groat Road, and downtown Edmonton is also a short drive away. There are numerous commercial amenities within Prince Rupert or nearby, including Superstore, Canadian Tire, coffee, restaurants, and the Kingsway Mall. Prince Rupert contains numerous green spaces, including Airways Park. Together, these parks and green spaces offer extensive multi-use trails, a playground, sports fields, and more. There are no schools within Prince Rupert, though you'll plenty nearby: Inglewood School, Westmount School, St. Andrew School, École à la Découverte, St. Catherine Catholic Elementary, John A. McDougall School, and St. Joseph High School. Other notable landmarks in Prince Rupert include a large RCMP detachment, the Edmonton Clansmen Rugby Club, Central Lions Recreation Centre, Chateau Louis Hotel and Conference Centre, Our Lady of Guadalupe Spanish Roman Catholic Church, and the Prince Rupert Community League.
