Prince Charles, originally known as North Inglewood, was renamed in honour of HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, beginning with the renaming of the school and community league and eventually being adopted for the community in the 1950s. Prince Charles’ boundaries are found at 118 Avenue in the south, 127 Street in the west, Yellowhead Trail to the north, and the CNR tracks to the east around 121 Street. Development began in Prince Charles in the early decades of the 20th century, along the original streetcar line at 118 Avenue, continuing through the 1940s and 50s. Today, modern infill properties exist alongside homes built nearly 100 years before. Prince Charles is a predominantly low-density residential community, with a population of 1,281. The majority of the homes here are single-family detached residences, while most of the remaining are duplexes.

Prince Charles is located just northwest of downtown Edmonton, allowing for a quick commute, while the adjacent Yellowhead Trail connects residents with various industrial employment areas across Edmonton. The VIA Rail station is immediately east of the community on 121 Street. Prince Charles Park, with a spray park, is located in the centre of the community, and Prince Charles Elementary School is located in the community’s northwest corner. Numerous convenience uses exist around the intersection of 118 Avenue and St. Albert Trail, offering gas, coffee, a pharmacy, liquor store, and more. To the south-east of Prince Charles, further shopping needs are satisfied on Kingsway by a Superstore, Canadian Tire, and numerous other stores and services, while the large Kingsway Mall is only just beyond these.
