Potter Greens is a golf-course community in far west Edmonton, within the Lewis Estates area plan. The community is named for Sam Potter, an early Edmonton pioneer who ran a local dairy business. Potter Greens' boundaries are found at Suder Greens Drive and Webber Greens Drive to the north, the Anthony Henday Drive corridor to the east, Whitemud Drive to the south, and Lewis Estates Boulevard to the west. The community was developed primarily through the 1990s, continuing in the 2000s, and over 80% of the real estate here is made up of single-family detached homes with the remaining homes in Potter Greens made up of duplexes. The population is 1,490, with the vast majority of Potter Greens residents being homeowners.
Potter Greens' location allows easy access across south and west Edmonton via the adjacent Anthony Henday Drive ring road, and Whitemud Drive also provides a quick commute to numerous industrial and commercial areas within south Edmonton. A large transit centre is located at the north-east corner of the community. Many commercial amenities are found nearby, including several plazas within or adjacent to Lewis Estates. Here, you'll find a Costco, Save-On-Foods, Sobeys, Shoppers Drug Mart, eateries, banks, and more, with further development planned. A little further, at Callingwood Road or Stony Plain Road, you'll find more amenities, or at the large West Edmonton Mall. The River Cree Casino and Resort is located across Whitemud Drive. Extensive green space exists within and near Potter Greens, beginning with the Lewis Estates golf course, several holes of which wind through the Potter Greens community, and including several community parks within the community as well as a large pond and tree stand. A larger district park is also under construction within Lewis Estates, offering a large recreation centre with dive tank, pool, gyms, and skating rinks, a branch of the Edmonton Public Library, a splash park, skate park, and more. Bishop David Motiuk School, Michael Phair School, Winterburn School, and Lewis Estates School are located nearby, with further schools coming soon.
