Parkallen is a community in south central Edmonton, whose name was chosen by residents in 1945. It was previously known by the names 'Beau Park' and 'Bridgeland'. The community is surrounded by major road arteries; its boundaries are found at 113 Street to the west, 72 Avenue to the north, 61 Avenue to the south, and 109 Street to the east.

Parkallen was planned comprehensively when development began in earnest, in the 1940s, and its modified grid pattern is typical of Edmonton's development during this period. The community is designed to limit through-traffic and keep quiet streets, while providing access from arterial roads to a community centred around a park area. Parkallen homes for sale will mainly be single-family detached homes, typically in the bungalow and semi-bungalow style. This housing type along with a few scattered duplexes make up around 80% of the real estate in Parkallen. The remaining is comprised of low-rise apartment buildings, located in the centre of the community around the park. The population of Parkallen is 2,374, and the majority of residents are homeowners, with a high proportion of longer-term residents.

Parkallen’s location allows easy access to south Edmonton, downtown, and the University of Alberta, as well as to Southgate Centre and the trendy district of Whyte Ave/Old Strathcona. Parkallen offers good transit connections, including nearby LRT stations. Many commercial amenities, besides the local conveniences in the centre of Parkallen or at its north-east corner, can be found at Southgate Centre and the area of Whyte Ave. In either location, it will be easy to shop for groceries, necessities, clothing, and whatever else you need, as well as to find banks, food, coffee, bars, and more.

Parkallen has a large open park at its centre, offering a playground, splash park, picnic facilities, a basketball court, sports fields, a skating rink, community garden, and the Parkallen Community League. Also on this park is the Parkallen School, which is the only school in the community. Other nearby schools include Allendale School, Strathcona School, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Queen Alexandra School, McKernan School, and Belgravia School. Unitarian Congregation Westwood and the Cornerstone Community Church are located within Parkallen's boundaries, while St. Basil's Ukarinian Catholic Church and St. Agnes Catholic Church are located just past the perimeter. Alberta School for the Deaf is located immediately across 113 Street.
