Ogilvie Ridge is a community in south-west Edmonton, named for James H. Ogilvie, who was a politician for 57 years, a lawyer, and a veteran of World War I. He served as city alderman from 1932 to 1948. The community's boundaries are found at the Whitemud Creek Ravine to the north-east, Rabbit Hill Road to the south-west, and a utility corridor to the south. Development in Ogilvie Ridge began early in the 1980s, continuing to the end of the decade. Housing in Ogilvie Ridge is primarily made up of single-family detached homes, with these making up more than 80% of Ogilvie Ridge real estate. The remainder are duplexes and townhouses. The population is 982, with the vast majority of Ogilvie Ridge residents owning their homes.

Ogilvie Ridge's location allows easy access to commercial and employment opportunities throughout a large part of Edmonton via the Anthony Henday Drive ring road and Whitemud Drive, a short drive south and north respectively, which open up easy access to services around Edmonton. Ogilvie Ridge residents are served by nearby amenities around the intersection of 23 Avenue and Rabbit Hill Road, which provides a Save-On-Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart, gyms, banks, food options, shops, and much more. Another development with groceries and more stores is found across Terwillegar Drive, and further amenities can be found a short drive away at the Currents at Windermere, which offers many of the larger commercial amenities. South Edmonton Common and Southgate Centre are also located nearby. There is extensive green space spread throughout Ogilvie Ridge, including a central park area and multi-use trails leading into the Whitemud Creek Ravine, which encloses much of the eastern part of Ogilvie Ridge. The park offers a playground, tennis courts, sports fields, and the Whitemud Creek Community Centre. Mother Margaret Mary Catholic High School, Archbishop Joseph MacNeil Catholic Elementary/Junior High School, and Lillian Osborne High School are located nearby, and the Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre offers residents of the area many recreational activities.
