Menisa Real Estate Listings
Menisa, which means "berries", is a small community in south-east Edmonton, named after the berries that used to grow in the Parkland vegetation of the Mill Woods area. The community’s boundaries are found at 80 Street to the west, 66 Street to the east, Mill Woods Road to the north and the Anthony Henday Drive ring road to the south. Knottwood Road bisects Menisa and offers residents easy access to city bus services. Menisa was originally developed in the late 1970s, and is made up of 80% single-family detached homes and 15% row housing, with a small number of low-rise apartments and duplexes scattered throughout. The population is 2,623, with the majority of Menisa residents owning their homes and being long-term residents of the community.
Menisa's location allows easy access to commercial employment opportunities in the close-by Mill Woods Town Centre area and Ellerslie via 66 Street. The outer edges of the city, including many industrial areas, are also quick to access via the adjacent Anthony Henday Drive ring road. Residents of Menisa are served by local- level businesses in the Menisa Shopping Centre, and a short drive north on Mill Woods Road you'll find Mill Woods Park which offers the Mill Woods Recreation Centre, Mill Woods Farmers' Market, the Community Recycling Depot, the Mill Woods Skate Park, track fields, a football field, and more. Commercial amenities can be found nearby at Mill Woods Town Centre, which offers Co-op Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart, Millwoods Registry Services, multiple restaurants, banks and numerous other food, stores, services and more. A branch of the Edmonton Public Library is located here. Many further commercial amenities can be found nearby at South Edmonton Common. The Grey Nuns Community Hospital is a short drive away in the community of Tawa. Menisa is one of 3 communities that comprise the Knottwood Community League, founded in 1977. Menisa was designed with a number of strategically placed pathways to promote pedestrian and bicycle travel within the neighbourhood. The design was to provide for an efficient flow of traffic to and from the neighbourhood while minimizing the disruptive and hazardous effects of through-traffic. Menisa Park, located centrally, offers residents a playground, soccer fields, a baseball diamond and the only school in the neighbourhood; Menisa School. Further schools are located nearby.
