Magrath Heights is a prestigious community in south-west Edmonton, named for William J. Magrath, an early developer in Edmonton. Magrath Heights is almost entirely enclosed by green space, with parkland and woodland making up the heart of the community and the Whitemud Creek Ravine providing a great natural backing for the community. The eastern boundary of Magrath Heights is found at this ravine, while the other boundaries are found at 23 Avenue to the north, Rabbit Hill Road to the west, and the adjacent community of MacTaggart to the south beyond May Gate and Malone Way.

Magrath Heights began development as recently as the 2000s, and Magrath Heights homes for sale will mainly be single-family detached homes, typically large, prestigious homes taking advantage of the green space and views. This housing type makes up over 65% of the real estate in Magrath Heights. The remaining residential units are comprised of low-rise condo buildings, townhouses, and duplexes. The population of Magrath Heights is 3,457, and the vast majority of residents are homeowners, with a higher household income than the city-wide average.

Magrath Heights' location allows easy access to south Edmonton, downtown, and the University of Alberta, as well as to Southgate Centre and South Edmonton Common. The nearby Anthony Henday Drive also offers a quick commute around the outskirts of the city, including many commercial and industrial employment areas including those in Sherwood Park, St. Albert, and west and east Edmonton. Whitemud Drive brings commuters right across the southern part of Edmonton. The nearby Calgary Trail also connects Magrath Heights residents to Nisku and the Edmonton International Airport.

Many commercial amenities can be found around the intersection of 23 Avenue and Rabbit Hill Road, offering a Save-On-Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart, gyms, restaurants, clinics, and boutique stores and services. For anything else, there's Southgate Centre or Currents at Windermere. In either of these locations, it will be easy to shop for groceries, necessities, clothing, and whatever you need, as well as to find banks, food, coffee, bars, and more.

Magrath Heights has an abundance of greenery, between the Whitemud Creek Ravine and a central park and natural area. Here, you'll find a playground, picnic facilities, open space, and a preserved tree stand. Bordering the ravine, there is a community garden, and several ponds in the community are surrounded by multi-use trails which lead into the ravine. Within the Whitemud Creek Ravine itself, walking trails and sanctuaries provide abundant recreational opportunities.

Magrath Heights has no schools, though Nellie Carson School, Esther Starkman School, Monsignor William Irwin Catholic School, Lillian Osborne High School, Archbishop Joseph MacNeil Catholic Elementary/Junior High School, and Mother Margaret Mary Catholic High School are all located nearby. Also found nearby is the large Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre, which provides many amenities; saltwater pools, including a wave pool, fitness centre and running track, gymnasiums, skating arenas, and more.
