Klarvatten takes its name from the Swedish “clear water”, following the naming pattern of the Lake District. The neighbourhood is bounded by the Anthony Henday Drive to the north, 82 Street to the east, and 167 Avenue to the south, with the community of Lago Lindo forming the western boundary at 91 Street. Development began here in the 1980s, though more than half the neighbourhood has been built since 2000 with work still ongoing. More than 80% of Klarvatten is made up of single-family homes, with the remainder being duplexes and row housing. Some condo buildings are planned for the north part of the community, and a small commercial plaza exists at the south-west corner of the neighbourhood for convenience use. Klarvatten’s population is 5,730, with predominantly younger residents. Around 70% own their homes.

Klarvatten’s location is perfect for access to the Anthony Henday Drive ring road at 97 Street, offering a quick connection to St Albert, Sherwood Park, and CFB Edmonton at Namao. Klarvatten is rich in green space, offering three lakes, interconnected trails, and a large park near the centre, Klarvatten Park. Shopping is available to the south on 97 Street at Eaux Claires, providing a Sobeys, Save-On-Foods, Canadian Tire, Lowe’s, banks, clinics, and numerous other shops and services, just a short drive from Klarvatten. Bishop Greschuk Catholic Elementary and Florence Hallock School are both immediately adjacent to the boundaries of Klarvatten.
