Jamieson Place is a large community in west Edmonton, named after Frederick Charles Jamieson, a prominent lawyer and politician who arrived in the Edmonton area from Ontario in 1895. The community’s boundaries are found at 184 Street to the east, the Anthony Henday Drive corridor to the west, Callingwood Road to the north, and Lessard Road to the south. Jamieson Place was developed beginning through the 1980s and continuing into the 2000s, and a little more than 90% of Jamieson Place is made up of single-family detached homes. The remainder is made up of scattered duplexes and townhouses. The population of Jamieson Place is 3,369, and the majority of the residents are homeowners.
Jamieson Place’s location allows easy access to the nearby West Edmonton Mall and many other parts of west and south Edmonton via the Anthony Henday Drive ring road. Many commercial amenities, besides those at West Edmonton Mall, can be found across 178 Street at The Marketplace at Callingwood. Here, you’ll find a Safeway, Liquor Depot, Shoppers Drug Mart, a farmer’s market, convenience, food, banks, and numerous other stores and services. There is also a small plaza located at Lessard Road within the adjacent community of Dechene. Jamieson Place contains several green spaces and multi-use trails, including a central park area. Here, you’ll find a playground, sports fields, tree stands, and the Michael A. Kostek School. Other schools near Jamieson Place include S. Bruce Smith School and Good Shepherd School in Dechene.
