High Park is a community in west Edmonton, named for one or both High Parks in England. The community’s boundaries are found at 156 Street to the west, 149 Street to the east, 111 Avenue to the north, and 107 Avenue to the south. High Park was developed in the 1950s and 60s, and was originally part of the Town of Jasper Place before annexation into Edmonton in 1964. The community is predominantly made up of single-family detached homes, with a few scattered duplexes. The population is 1,338, with the vast majority of High Park residents being homeowners.
High Park’s location allows easy access to many industrial employment areas throughout the west end, and downtown Edmonton is just a short drive away along 107 Avenue or Stony Plain Road. Besides some community-level conveniences located around the edges of High Park, many commercial amenities can be found nearby at the Mayfield Common. Here, you’ll find a Save-On-Foods, HomeSense, Jysk, and numerous other stores, services, restaurants, and more. High Park has two parks, High Park and Ken Newman Park, and one school, the High Park School. The High Park Community League is also located across the street from the school.
