Hawks Ridge is a developing community in far west Edmonton, within the Big Lakes area north of the Yellowhead Trail. Hawks Ridge's boundaries are found at the adjacent Kinglet Gardens community to the south, Winterburn Road (215 Street) to the east, the shore of Big Lake to the north, and 231 Street to the west. The community began development as recently as the 2010s. The development plan calls for a majority of single-family detached homes, with extensive green space, taking advantage of the community's natural setting. The population at the 2016 census was 408, with the vast majority of Hawks Ridge residents being homeowners.
Hawks Ridge's location allows easy access to north and west Edmonton and St. Albert, as well as around the outskirts of the city, via the adjacent Anthony Henday Drive ring road. This route offers a quick commute to numerous industrial and commercial employment areas. Commercial amenities will be found nearby and within the community, including several scattered community-level convenience plazas and a larger district-level shopping centre at Winterburn Road near the Yellowhead Trail. A little further you'll find more amenities, in St. Albert, at St. Albert Trail, or at the large West Edmonton Mall. The planned green space within Hawks Ridge will be especially extensive, beginning at the lake shore to the north and continuing through various tree stands and natural areas. There will also be numerous small ponds and a community park, all interconnected by multi-use trails. A new school is planned for the centre of Hawks Ridge as well as several more in adjacent Big Lake communities.
