Granville is a community in far west Edmonton, within The Grange area plan. Granville's boundaries are found at 62 Avenue to the south, Winterburn Road (215 Street) to the west, Whitemud Drive to the north, and the adjacent community of Glastonbury to the east at Guardian Road and a pipeline corridor. The community began development in the late 2000s, continuing today. Granville is made up of around two-thirds single-family detached homes, 15% townhouses, and 10% low-rise condo buildings, with the remainder of real estate in the community being duplexes. The population at the 2016 census was 1,569, with the majority of Granville residents being homeowners.
Granville's location allows easy access across south and west Edmonton via the Anthony Henday Drive ring road, and the adjacent Whitemud Drive also provides a quick commute to numerous industrial and commercial areas within south Edmonton. Many commercial amenities are found nearby and within the community, including at both the north and south ends of Glastonbury and at two plazas within Granville. Here, you'll find a Costco, Safeway, Save-On-Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, eateries, banks, and more, with further commercial development taking place. A little further, at 199 Street or Stony Plain Road, you'll find more amenities, or at the large West Edmonton Mall. The River Cree Casino and Resort is located immediately across Winterburn Road. Extensive green space exists within Granville, beginning with several lakes and ponds as well as community parks, all interconnected by multi-use trails through Granville, into adjacent communities, and continuing along utility corridors. A larger district park is also under construction within the nearby Lewis Estates, offering a large recreation centre with dive tank, pool, gyms, and skating rinks, a branch of the Edmonton Public Library, a splash park, skate park, and more. Kim Hung School is coming to Granville, while Sister Annata Brockman Elementary/Junior High School and Bessie Nichols School are located in adjacent communities.
