Evansdale is named in honour of H.M. Evans, Mayor of Edmonton in 1918 and president of the Edmonton Board of Trade. The community is located in north east Edmonton, and is bounded by 97 and 82 Streets to the west and east and 153 and 144 Avenues to the north and south. Evansdale was developed primarily in the 1960s and 70s, with further infill occurring throughout the 80s and 90s. Evansdale is located near Northgate/North Town Centre and Eaux Claires, offering a full range of grocery, shopping, and other services, including Canadian Tire, Lowe’s, London Drugs, T&T Supermarket, Walmart, Safeway, and much more. The community of Evansdale also benefits from the Evansdale Community League and the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex. Evansdale’s schools are Evansdale School, St. Philip School, and Cardinal Leger Junior High School.
