Empire Park is a community in south central Edmonton. The community’s boundaries are found at Calgary Trail to the east, 111 Street to the west, 51 Avenue to the north, and Whitemud Drive to the south. Empire Park was developed primarily in the 1960s, and was completed in the 70s. The community is predominantly medium and higher density, with low- and mid-rise apartments and condos together accounting for over 70% of Empire Park real estate units. Townhouses account for a further 20%, while single-family detached homes and duplexes comprise the remainder. The population is 4,902, with Empire Park residents mostly being renters.

Empire Park’s location allows easy access to much of south and west Edmonton via Whitemud Drive and Calgary Trail, and downtown Edmonton is just a short drive away along Gateway Boulevard. An LRT station in the community allows for easy public transit access. Many commercial amenities can be found nearby along the Calgary Trail/Gateway Boulevard corridor, including a Home Depot, Staples, Superstore, and numerous food and coffee options as well as community-level conveniences. The large Southgate Centre is also contained within the western part of Empire Park. There are several park areas within Empire Park, together offering playgrounds, sports fields, a skating rink, and picnic facilities. The Empire Park Community League and two schools, McKee School and L.Y Cairns School, are also located in these parks.
