Ellerslie is a community in far south-east Edmonton. The region has been known as Ellerslie for over 100 years, and the origin of the name is unknown. The community's boundaries are found at the Anthony Henday Drive corridor to the north, 66 Street to the east, Ellerslie Road to the south, and 91 Street to the west. The community was developed through the 2000s, and was constructed quickly. Housing types here are diverse, with more than half of the real estate here being made up of single-family detached homes, a little more than 10% duplexes, 15% townhouses, and more than 20% low-rise condo buildings. The eastern part of the community is largely made up of original acreage-sized properties. The population in the 2016 census was 5,540, and the majority of Ellerslie residents are homeowners.

Ellerslie's location allows easy access across south and east Edmonton via the adjacent Anthony Henday Drive ring road, and Calgary Trail nearby also provides a quick commute to Nisku, Leduc, and the Edmonton International Airport. Many commercial amenities are found nearby, whether at Harvest Pointe, a little west of the community along Ellerslie Road, or at the South Edmonton Common. Several parks and green spaces exist within Ellerslie, including a pond and utility corridor with connected multi-use trails, as well as a central park area, Ellerslie Crossing, which provides a playground and splash park next to a tree stand and extensive open space. This area is planned to include schools, though numerous schools can already be found nearby, including Ellerslie Primary, Father Michael Mireau Elementary/Junior High School, and Corpus Christi Catholic School.
