Chambery, as other neighbourhoods in the Castledowns area, is named after a famous castle, the Château de Chambéry in France. The neighbourhood is located south of Anthony Henday Drive, east of 112 Street, south of 173 Avenue, and west of the Elsinore neighbourhood at approximately 106 Street. It is a relatively new community, with much of the residential development occurring after the year 2000. Chambery real estate is primarily comprised of single-family residential, though some medium-density residential is zoned in the south-west corner of the neighbourhood. The population of Chambery is 2,613, with a high percentage of home ownership and long-term residency.

There is around 300 homes in Chambery, the vast majority of which are detached single-family homes. These homes are, in general, quite spacious, with most homes exceeding 2,000 square feet. Living in Chambery, Northwest Edmonton

Chambery is a wonderful neighbourhood with a safe, peaceful atmosphere that's great for families and retirees. The neighbourhood almost has a suburban atmosphere, but it's still close to plenty of amenities throughout Edmonton.

Chambery has two man-made lakes, which are located across from each other. Elsinore/Chambery Park is within the neighbourhood, while Castlebrook Park is also nearby and St. Charles Catholic Church is located in the west part of the community. Just a few minutes north, you'll find The Hunters Green Golf Club, which is one of the most affordable courses in the Edmonton area and also has a very nice restaurant on site.

Just south of Chambery is where you'll find a variety of shopping options, including Lakeside Landing Shopping Centre, BH Shopping Centre and Castle Downs Park shopping area. Families in Castle Downs can use the park's amenities, such as the skate park, picnic area, children's spray park, and outdoor skating rink.

For families with young children, Chambery will soon include a central school site. In the meantime, nearby schools include Baturyn School and St Charles Elementary.
