Brintnell is named for a pilot of the Royal Flying Corps during World War I, who settled in Edmonton and was awarded the Order of the British Empire and inducted into the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame. This follows the naming pattern of the Pilot Sound area in northeast Edmonton. Brintnell is located on the west side of Manning Drive between 153rd and 167th Avenues, with the western border at 50th Street. While some of the first homes were built right after 2000, most of the residential development occurred in the late 2000s. Brintnell is made up almost entirely of single-family homes with a few multifamily units added in. There is a small commercial area in the northeast corner. The population is 6,482, most of whom are young families who own their homes.
With Manning Drive on the east side of Brintnell, you have easy access to the Anthony Henday, Fort Saskatchewan, and the rest of the city. Anthony Henday Drive ring road provides quick access to St Albert, Sherwood Park, and CFB Edmonton at Namao. Manning Town Center is just across Manning Drive, offering a Cabela’s, Sport Chek, Marshalls, HomeSense, Canadian Tire, a Lowe’s, numerous restaurants, and a Cineplex cinema, among other stores. At the north end of the Brintnell community, a variety of further amenities are available including a Save-On-Foods, Sobeys, Petro-Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart, Pet Valu, a gym, a branch of the Edmonton Public Library, banks, and other conveniences. In the centre of the community, you'll find Brintnell Park, with numerous multi-use trails connecting this park to other green spaces and two lakes. Nearby schools include Dr. Donald Massey School, the Edmonton Christian Northeast School, McLeod School, Steele Heights School, and St Dominic Catholic Elementary.
