Beverly Heights is part of the original town of Beverly in northeast Edmonton, taking its name from a town in Yorkshire, England. The community’s boundaries are found at 50 Street to the west, 118 Avenue to the north, and the river valley to the south-west. To the east, the boundary is formed by 34 Street until 111 Avenue, where it moves to 36 Street until it meets 104 Avenue in the south. Development here occurred mostly during the 1950s, though some homes had been built in the earlier decades after Beverly was incorporated as a village in 1913. Low-rise apartments were built in the 1960s and 80s, near major routes, while the majority of the mature community is made up of single-family detached homes. The population of Beverly Heights is 3,184, and most residents own their homes.
Beverly Heights’ location allows easy access to other parts of the city via Yellowhead Trail, including many industrial employment areas, and downtown Edmonton is just a short drive away. Commercial amenities can be found along 118 Avenue, whether within Beverly Heights or nearby, and the Abbottsfield Mall is located immediately north-east of the community. Floden Park, overlooking the North Saskatchewan River, is located near the centre of Beverly Heights, and offers a skating rink, sports fields, a playground, and the Beverly Heights Community Hall. There are several other parks and greenspaces scattered throughout Beverly Heights, as well as the river valley with its numerous trails. The large Rundle Park is also within a few minutes’ drive. Beverly Heights’ schools are; Lawton School, R.J. Scott School, and St. Nicholas Junior High.
