Bergman is part of the original Town of Beverly, in northeast Edmonton. The community is named in honour of Gustave C. Bergman, the first mayor of the Town of Beverly. The boundaries of Bergman are found at 34 and 50 Streets to the east and west, 122 Avenue to the south, and Yellowhead Trail to the north. Development in south Bergman took place mainly in the 1950s, before Beverly was amalgamated into Edmonton, while around half the community was built in the 1980s. Some streets in the north-west of the community still remain undeveloped. Bergman real estate is mostly single-family detached homes, with only around 10% of the homes being semi-detached. Bergman’s population is 1,553, and the vast majority own their homes. More than half have been Bergman residents more than five years.
Bergman’s location location allows easy access to other parts of the city via Yellowhead Trail, including many industrial employment areas, and downtown Edmonton is just a short drive away. Many commercial amenities can be found just south along 118 Avenue, and the Abbottsfield Mall is located immediately south-east of the community. At the centre of Bergman is the Bergman Park, which offers a playground. Nearby schools include the Beacon Heights School, St. Bernadette Catholic School, Newton School, and St. Leo Catholic School.
