Bearspaw is a community in south Edmonton, named for Chief Masgwaahisd (Bear's Paw) of the Stoney Band, who signed Band Treaty Number 7 at Blackfoot Crossing in 1877. He was instrumental in avoiding violent conflict through the treaty negotiation process. The community's boundaries are found at Calgary Trail to the east, the adjacent community of Keheewin to the north beyond 16 Avenue, the Blackmud Creek Ravine to the west, and the Anthony Henday Drive corridor to the south. Bearspaw was developed through the 1970s and 80s, and the community is made up of more than 65% single-family detached homes, with the remainder split between duplexes and townhouses. The population is 2,103, with Bearspaw residents mostly being homeowners.

Bearspaw's location allows easy access to much of south and west Edmonton via the Anthony Henday Drive ring road and Calgary Trail, and downtown Edmonton is a short drive away along Gateway Boulevard. Good transit connections lead to the nearby Century Park LRT station. Many commercial amenities can be found nearby along the Calgary Trail/Gateway Boulevard corridor, including a Superstore, Save-On-Foods, T&T Supermarket, Homesense, Winners, Petland, Chapters, JYSK, Walmart, and numerous other stores, services, food options, banks, and more. There is a shopping area at Century Park nearby, with a Safeway, Sobeys, Shoppers Drug Mart, boutique stores, and services. The large Southgate Centre and South Edmonton Common are also located nearby. A central park area within Bearspaw offers the Bearspaw Lake and sports fields, while Kinsmen Twin Arenas and the William Lutsky Family YMCA are located in Keheewin to the north. Keheewin School is located nearby.
